E.R.B., or by its full name Exotic Recreational Blend, comes in a small, slick package containing 1.5 grams of all natural herbs. The front of the package promises that I’ll be satisfied with the contents inside, but I’ve found myself less than satisfied with previous Club 13 manufactured herbal kush products before. I’m always happy to give new products a go though, and I know the good folks over at Salvia Extracts who donated this sample to Burn One With Us for review wouldn’t knowingly lead me astray, and so it was that I peeled open the packet of E.R.B. with an open mind and a hopeful heart.
I poured the entire packet out for sorting and I instantly found myself pleased – the herbs are fluffy and soft, and all of them echo a lively and fresh green coloring. The scent is somewhat sweet in nature, but I can’t quite put my thumb on it either. The texture of the herb reminds me quite a bit of Organic Farms, and I’m thinking one of their shared ingredients is the main reason behind this. E.R.B. contains Indian warrior (better known around here as Pedicularis densiflora), Mullein, Elephant head (Pedicularis groenlandica), Skullcap, Baybean, Marshmallow, Red Clover, Blue lotus, Damiana (sorry Louisiana!), and Valerian root. That’s quite the mix, and the forms of these included herbs range from foliage and leaves to flowers and extracts.
So far I’m impressed by the quality of E.R.B. (Exotic Recreational Blend) and I’m looking forward to giving it a try. I pack up my handy dandy herbal kush pipe and give the herb a gentle light with a normal lighter. The back of the package suggests using a butane torch lighter, but it doesn’t really look like it needs that sort of power in my opinion, but I have one just in case I need to use it. At first the smoke just seems rather dry and a bit harsh, but my throat warms to it quickly and subsequent puffs don’t irritate my throat like the first few do. I tried again later with the butane torch lighter and noticed less irritation, so perhaps that’s the reason for the recommendation, though a regular lighter did the trick just fine.
There isn’t much flavor to the blend, the only taste being earthy and plant-like, but it’s not offensive and it doesn’t bother me. The vibe is a headier one, though a mild one. It’s easy to become distracted, to find my mind meandering on some amusing topic or another, and I spend about an hour just browsing about the internet entertaining myself. I feel quite comfortable and calm, more passive than alert, and after an hour I’m actually ready for a bit of a nap – though I don’t take one, I certainly could have.
E.R.B. was pleasant enough, but short lasting. Still there’s plenty of herbal kush left over floating about in this packet, perhaps a water pipe would enhance the effects a bit more. Perception was altered just barely, but it was and although I did enjoy E.R.B., it’d be nice if it’d had more flavor or just a bit more oomph. It would make for a great middle of the day break though, just enough pleasure here to relax and hang out for a bit, and then return to more productive activities without any lingering effects. E.R.B. (Exotic Recreational Blend) is a nice improvement over some of Club 13’s other products though, and it’s a step in the right direction for all naturals herbal smokes.
