Devilz Lettuce is the kind of blend you pack a pipe with at the end of the night and then spiral into the activities you most enjoy, freeing your mind from worry and letting you focus on the fun for just a bit.
Devilz Lettuce has made me realize how ingrained proper plurals are in my mind, my fingers feel as if they’re fighting over the keys every time I hit the ‘z’ key instead of the ‘s’ key, but I think I can forgive the manufacturers of this blend. Judging from the amount of z’s I see in product names (and not just in the herbal blend industry!) it must be mighty tempting. Devilz Lettuce is an herbal smoking mix with a big green grinning cloud of smoke decorating the package. The packet states there’s only 1 gram of herb in the mix, but an added sticker in the upper corner lets me know that it’s actually 3 grams, so don’t let that confuse you.
SmokingBlendReviews received our sample of Devilz Lettuce from Lazy Botanicals, where it’s currently available to purchase in both 3 gram and 1.5 gram amounts. There are no ingredients listed on the package aside from “exotic active herbs from around the world” but I think it’s safe to say that it doesn’t actually contain any “Devil’s Lettuce”. According to the label it is 100% natural and chemical free though, so we’ll give it a try and find out how it stands up in the world of herbal smoking blends.
I opened the packet and dumped a decent amount of herb out to investigate the blend further. It smells absolutely wonderful, like sweet raspberries and other fruits, definitely a very fruity blend. Little bits of red stick out everywhere, among a sea of greens and crispy brown. The herbs appear fresh, and there’s just a few stems floating about, but most of it is finely ground.
Breaking out the herbal smoke pipe, I put a good sized pinch (less than a gram) of Devilz Lettuce in and light it up. The smoke is surprisingly smooth with just a hint of harshness, but not bad at all, no worse than smoking your average herb would be. There’s even a rather nice flavor when smoking Devilz Lettuce, it’s just a bit sweet and reminds me of cherries, like smoking a cherry-wheat flavored something or other. Not shabby at all, actually quite pleasant and enjoyable.
A feeling of heady excitement brewed up in me shortly after finishing my pipe, I’d say within about five minutes tops. It was definitely more mental than anything, but I did feel physically slower than usual. My fingers worked a bit more clumsily, almost like these thoughtless digits were themselves distracted, but as they have no thought of their own I was still about to get things done with a good bit of concentration. Still, this isn’t a blend you want to attempt to be productive with!
I felt a bit more relaxed, but not overwhelmingly so. As time wore on, my mind felt like it was slowing down. I got lost reading about bears on Wikipedia, how that happened I don’t even know, but being productive kind of went out the door. Overall Devilz Lettuce offered mild though definite effects, which faded off after thirty minutes or so. Not a bad blend at all, though I really wish they had listed their ingredients on the package.
Devilz Lettuce didn’t blow me away, but it did work to give my mind an alternative perspective on the world, letting me just kind of sink down in my chair and disappear into whatever it was I was reading at the moment. Not the kind of blend you want to start your day off with, especially if you’ve got a lot on your plate, but it’d be a nice way to wind down at the end of the day.
Pros:
-Smells great prior to burning
-Lightly sweet, earthy flavor when smoking
-Heady vibe
-Mildly relaxing
-Pleasantly distracting
-Great end of the day evening blend
Cons:
-No ingredients listing on package
-A bit too slow for my taste, not bad if you don’t mind the clumsy aspect
-Somewhat short duration of 30 minutes, can be remedied by smoking more or mixing with other blends
