Synthetic Cannabis

Synthetic Herbs

Synthetic cannabis is a new product in the market of smoke shops and it is easily becoming one of the most popular. Cannabis is known more commonly by its actual name, “marijuana.” It has been used for centuries now for medicinal and sensory purposes. In fact, the latter is the main reason why cannabis has become such a wide-spread smoke solution in today’s world. Most people who try it enjoy the psychoactive effects and how it brings on an immediate feeling of relaxation. Still- there has been controversy with the product. This undeniable controversy has directly brought about a new product, synthetic cannabis. Synthetic cannabis is just that, man-made, and yet able to mirror the effects of marijuana in its pure form. Delta-9 tetrahydrocannainol is the active chemical ingredient of marijuana that carries the hallucinogenic effect, and is illegal in many areas of the world. Its man-made counterpart is created without the illegal ingredient, thus making it DEA-safe. Users no longer have to worry about the product being under the watchful eye of their jurisdictions.

Synthetic cannabis is best known in the market as either Spice Smoking Blend or K2 Incense. If you go to a grocery store, convenience outlet, or smoke shop, you likely are going to find many different options to purchase. Since 2000, the product has been readily available to smokers around the world. Its main advantage is its legal stance, but it also has another positive attribute. It is undetectable in a drug test. While the pure form of cannabis is a problem for those who need to be tested, the synthetic form does not show up. It doesn’t have the illegal ingredient and is completely herbal in its makeup. By eliminating its detectability in drug tests and its illegal component, synthetic cannabis is quickly growing in popularity. The uses for synthetic cannabis are widespread too. The product oftentimes is marketed to buyers as an herbal incense product, or an herbal smoking blend. Though some users prefer to smoke it, there is an equally strong group of buyers who want to burn it without direct ingestion. This can be a calming way to experience a milder effect of the smoking blend.

Although some compounds are still legal within the United States, synthetic cannabis is not without its own controversies. Some components of the product are being called into question. Research has shown that it may be related to psychosis and prolonged episodes of chronic psychotic episodes. The truth for this claim though as of yet has never been produced. Long-time users believe that there are enough positive attributes, as opposed to negative ones, to fully supports its marketing and promotion around the world. The bottom line is that the “designer drug” has been created without the active cannabis ingredient Delta-9 tetrahydrocannainol since around 2004. It first showed up in Europe and quickly gained popularity from there. Most manufacturers have been aggressive in their promotions and for good reason. They have made it a point to create blends with traditional medicinal herbs. Elements like nymphaea caerulea, sculellaria nana, leonotis leonurus, zomia latifolia and canavalia maritime are all a part of the mix. While no official studies on safety have been conducted as of yet, millions of repeat users espouse the safety of the herbal blend.
In the US there are plans to scrutinize synthetic cannabis. Though it is claimed to be composed of legal and herbal elements, the government is trying to crack down on its distribution. Though official status of various components are not illegal, the DEA is trying to do further testing to make sure that determination is correct. So far, US law has temporarily scheduled a final determination to be made on the drug, noting some elements are headed under “elements of concern.” There is still some controversy that the man-made drug may induce seizures, heart racing, elevated blood pressure, anxiety, agitation, hallucinations and overall paranoia. Several states in the US are delving deeper into testing synthetic cannabis. Kansas, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee and Louisiana have all independently made the decision to make it illegal under their own state laws. Arkansas likely is going to follow suit in coming months.
Outside of the US there are also investigations into synthetic cannabis being planned. Russia, for example, has already created an initiative to control smoke blends and their sales. The country is marketing the product under a variety of different names and manufacturers are looking for ways to sneak it under the watchful eyes of the government. On the other hand, Finland is a country that considers the smoke blend medicinal, and therefore has no restrictions on it. The United Kingdom did a turn around on the blend in December of 2009 making it illegal upon reclassification of various drug substances. The bottom line for the whole world is that legislators are trying to regulate synthetic blends. This is creating a secondary problem to deal with that history has experienced time and time again.
For any popular substance prohibition has always been a possible solution explored by the government, but with little success. Manufacturers take it upon themselves to create anything that is in demand and that includes substances like synthetic cannabis. When the government limits what people can buy, underground manufacturers rise up to sell in-demand products “under the table.” This creates an even bigger problem for the market because many of them create ingestible substances that are well below safety regulations. Some are even blatantly dangerous to the general public. This issue makes it more of a priority for governments to sort through the issue. Legislators are well aware of the dangers of leaving the illegal market rise up and take over. Not only would it cause millions of dollars to be lost, but it potentially could put millions of users at risk for serious medical maladies and long-term disabilities. Synthetic cannabis is a market of its own, but not without some specific risks to be managed. Users and legislators alike need to focus on safe usage and distribution, respectively, to ensure public safety. Still, until the issue is further discussed, synthetic cannabis can be a safe and legal alternative to marijuana.
In the end, synthetic cannabis is a product that is man-made and legal. The herbal blend has come into the market on the heels of marijuana as a safe alternative. Due to its complete herbal makeup, it is considered by many to be the perfect smoke product. Its growth in popularity is only going to continue as more people are drawn in by its potency, smoke effect and overall herbal mix.

Basics of SC Spice Blends

Introduction to Synthetic Cannabinoids: The Basics

So you think you’re ready to enter the world of synthetic weed, and get STONED with Mr. Wizard…

Common forms of synthetic cannabinoids available on the ‘retail’ market:

Synthetic cannabinoids, they’ve been around for years and years, but somehow only recently emerged into the ‘retail’ online RC and local head shop market. The most common form of synthetic cannabinoid (in this case “legal smoke”) is a mixture of dried plant matter, sprayed with an unknown amount of an unknown cannabinoid. The most common brand names for these are the obvious K2 Incense, Spice Smoking Blend, Serenity Now, and so on and so on. This stuff if not gotten from a reputible supplier, could be either a) bunk b) reallly overly strong or c) looks like fish food and not too appealing in any of these cases. On the other hand there are very reputible and honest suppliers of these ‘incense’ as well

The other form of synthetic cannabinoid you probably are familar with (or are here to become familar with) is the pure lab grade “research chemical” compounds, such as the JWH and WIN families. These chemicals were designed by various research chemists and big pharma style companies (Pfizer, Sterling Winthrop). These chemicals effects vary widely in potentcy, effects, and duration of action depending on the family of cannabinoid and which particular compound of that family you are dealing with.

Routes of administration:

When it comes to ingestion of synthetic cannabinoids, it’s pretty simple. The K2/Spice “Herbal Incense” can be smoked or vaporized just like regular natrually occuring cannabinoids. The synthetic RC cannabinoids on the other hand, can be smoked out of a regular spoon on a bed of ash (see picture below) or screens w/ ash, rolling papers, celluose rolling papers, or whatever works for you best. There is the thought among researchers that some synthetic cannabinoid compounds are destroyed when exposed to direct flame. In this case, oral vaporization with a oil burner meth pipe or aluminum foil (chasing the j-dragon), I’ve even read accounts of absorbsion via insufflation with some of these compounds, WIN 55 being one of them that will be discussed further later. There are many methods of ingestion that will be discussed in greater detail later in the OP. I even tried plugging JWH-018 one night, but I was wrecked on Jim Beam and OxyContin so I dont know if did even did anything at all, but it was in the name of science

General overview of effects:

Generally, it feels like weed, but missing something. Like mentioned before, it really depends on the compounds, dosages, ratios, ROA, among other things that will account to the potentcy and positive-effects. Some of these compounds are several times (even several hundred times ) stronger than THC, some are CB1 agonists, some are CB2 agonist, some are CB1 and 2 agonists. These chemicals are all very unique and their effects their own, and also dependant on the quality of the synthesis. The main positive feelings (or high) of SCs are pretty much identical to that of their natrual cousins THC and CBD, elevated or uplifted mood, hightened creativity or curiosity, a state of relaxation, increased sense of humor, decreased cognitive ability eg: memory loss or “brain farts” (will be discussed in depth later), increased appitite, and time distortion. While also missing some elements described by JWH users (when compared to THC) such as lack of body high or the lack of extreme laziness/severe couchlock. Again, like with everything else, effects, dosage, and duration of these SCs will be discussed in more detail later in the advanced breakdown of the synthetic cannabinoids, their families and related compounds.

Precautions:

This is only an introductory section to this guide, so the warnings and precautions of using SCs recreationally will only be touched on lightly in this paragraph. *This advice should not be considered ‘medical’ advice in any way, but is collected is from reputable web sites, government sources and studies, scientific reports and research, and what
other little documentation exists on these SC compounds*
Eyeballing synthetic very potent lab-grade chemicals
The risk and signs of overdose
The Fear, and tips for dealing with it.
Common sense, something not used enough in the research chemical underworld.

-> Eyeballing: Rule of thumb is, don’t eyeball doses. No matter how many times this is said, people don’t listen (including myself). If you really want to be serious about researching these compounds, you should obtain the proper measurement equipment, links will be provided below. Other than possibly overdosing, whice I’ve done multiple times also, there is one more consequence of irresponsible use and eyeballing measurements of SCs. Because you can continously raise the dosage beyond the ceiling point of THC, eventually your doses will just grow to heroic amounts in order to feel the slightest ‘relaxation’. I’ve also gathered that this tolerance also transfers also to THC, other cannabinoids, and apparently takes forever to go away. I will have to take a picture of how much I use for example why not eyeball chemicals, and how it causes stupid-high-tolerance, and possible addiction.
-> Addiction Potential: Guess what? Remember all those times you heard “marijuana is not addictive” well forget that. Information surfacing after widespread long term illicit use and abuse of these cannabinoids. Some believe because of the way they directly activate cannabinoid receptors, the receptors can grow more dependant on these drugs. Some users have reported (such as myself) withdrawal phenomenon occuring within 24 hours of ceasing intake of cannabinoids.
-> Overdose: This is something very easy for you to do with these potent cannabinoids, mainly when you are using the pure chemical prepreations. While it is thought that these overdoses are nothing more than ‘getting really high’ and are not hamful or fatal, as is with THC, but there is not enough evidence to support any theorys yet. Signs/symptoms of a SC OD are: anxiety or panic attacks, racing heartbeat, racing or looping thoughts (usually negative in subject matter), trouble or shortness of breath, and even reports of audial or visual hallucinations.
-> “The Fear”: You might’ve heard this term thrown around in the old thread, or used to describe an overdose of JWH. The key is, it’s not real, it’s only being caused by an over excitement of your cannabinoid receptors. Try to listen to some upbeat music, read, watch tv, or something to get your mind off the panic. If those options fail, you can try taking a shower, eating a lot of food, or going for a brisk run.
-> Common sense: Remember, this stuff is strong, potent by weight, cheap, and easily available to most worldwide. Common sense MUST be practiced with these drugs even more so than more-so “run of the mill” street recreational drugs. Don’t give your friend who only smokes a little weed at parties a dime baggie with 50mg of JWH-018 powder in it, and tell him to dig in. You know, common sense like that.

Drug Testing

Until recently, these SCs weren’t detectable in any drug tests on the market anywhere. Now there are a labs that currently offer LC/MS/MS (thats right, double MS) urinalyasis detection of JWH-018 and JWH-073 two SCs identified in “27 herbal smoking mixtures”, and well as supposedly “establishedtest methods to identify the presence of their metabolites”. There is also currently labs offering blood tests that can confirm JWH-018, 019, 073, and 250. Well this sucks, thank god for researchers that have jobs, probation officers, or otherwise faggots that interfere with their research, these are only detectable in urine for up to 72 hours. Finally at least there is some part-science probably part propaganda ‘official’ look into drug testing for JWHes here

Legality

The US Drug Enforcement Administration have announced that they are using the emergency scheduling law to ban 5 common synthetic cannabinoid compounds (including JWH-018, JWH-073, and JWH-200). Obviously there are hundreds more compounds available and that are pretty much (just would like to stress: pretty much) completely legal around the world, with the exception of a few cutting-edge countries of the world, and an increasing number of US States and even local/county governments are beginning the slow crackdown on these “legal THC alternatives” The Drug Enforcement Agency identified the “Spice Cannabinoids” as a drug or chemical of concern in 2009. Please if I am missing any Countries, US states, or US municipalities (entire list coming soon) that you know the current legal status, feel free to reply and let us know about the legal status in your hometown!

Countries to ban one or more SC
Austria, Belarus, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Poland, South Korea (but not North?), Sweden, Estonia, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, United States and the United Kingdom

Texas Bans Spice K2 and Synthetic Herbs

4 May by admin 6 Comments

The state of texas has banned the sell use and distribution of synthetic herbs such as K2 Incense, and Spice.

Reasons for the ban are being cited as due to poor manufacturing of Products that caused many users to call in  to the Texas Poison Center Network they have received an estimated 600 calls in since January 2010 relating to K2 exposure. The Texas Department of State Health Services is following several other states in outlawing synthetic marijuana products.

More specifically the state law will ban herbal blends that contain the following D.E.A. country wide banned substances, five chemicals, JWH -018, JWH-073, JWH-200, CP-47,497, and cannabicyclohexanol that are found in K2 were placed on the Schedule. All of which are being claimed as highly abusive and dangerous to public health.

Persons found guilty of a Class A misdemeanor are subject to a fine not to exceed $4,000 and/or confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year. Persons found guilty of a Class B misdemeanor are subject to a fine not to exceed $2,000 and/or confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days.

While doing research very little information was discovered concerning hard evidence other then isolated incidents of people calling into poison centers for the justification for such a ban. Pro-active action should be taken by the industry leaders to propose a self-impose regulation on method of production in order to limit the amount  and type of synthetic cannaboids being introduced into herbal blends. Those deemed more experimental should be avoided. Moreover, more stringent control should be imposed on the sell of cannaboids by producers limited sale to those that meet specific safety guidelines. This would naturally deter bargain basement operations, however, the herbal incenses being produced by such operators are often unsafe and dangerous causing users to OD, adding unneeded attention to the industry by government regulators (i.e. DEA).

What is JWH-018 ?

27 April by admin 15 Comments

What are Synthetic Cannabinoids?

Herbal blends, which are highly popular alternatives to illegal substances, are made of natural botanicals and often contain synthetic cannabinoids.  When comparing marijuana with an herbal blend product, one will find that cannabis contains THC, which is a natural cannabinoid, while the legal counterpart does not. Because herbal blends contain synthetic cannabinoids, they are legal in various states in the US as well as other countries.

Synthetic cannabinoids are not the same active compound as natural THC and do not have the same chemical structure.  Natural THC actually breaks down in a different way compared to synthetic cannabinoids.  The most common of these synthetic cannabinoids are cannabicyclohexanol, JWH-018, JWH-073, and HU-210.

JWH-018 is considered to be the most popular one, which is used in the vast majority of legal herbal blends being sold on the market in the United States, Europe and Canada.  Although synthetic cannabinoids are considered legal in various locations, a number of states in the US and countries across the globe are beginning to ban or regulate the sale, possession and consumption of herbal blends.

The Discovery of JWH-018

JWH-018 is an analogue of synthetic cannabinoids and was founded by John W. Huffman, an organic chemist from Clemson University.  As mentioned above, JWH-018 is the most widely recognized form of synthetic cannabinoids and is used as an ingredient in legal herbal blends. The molecular structure of JWH-018 is unique and the active ingredient produces effects on the body that are similar to the effects of cannabis.  For this reason, herbal blends that contain JWH-018 are used as legal alternatives to cannabis.

The Breakdown of Synthetic Cannabinoids

Every herbal blend produces different effects on the body that vary from one individual to another.  The reason is because of the synthetic cannabinoid, which causes our bodies to react in different ways.  The body has two cannabinoid receptors called CB1 and CB2.  These receptors are found in different parts of the body.  CB1 is found in the brain while CB2 is found in other parts such as bone marrow.  Synthetic cannabinoids work differently with these receptors, but they have an affinity to both CB1 and CB2.

When comparing the synthetic compounds with natural THC, one will find that THC is a partial agonist to CB1 receptors while synthetic cannabinoids are full agonists.  This means that synthetic cannabinoids can potentially produce stronger effects than THC does.  Those who use legal herbal blends often find that these products are much stronger than cannabis and produce longer-lasting effects.  In fact, the affinity of JWH-018 is 5 times greater than the affinity of THC.  Not only do these synthetic cannabinoids have an effect on the body, but they can also have an effect on the mind.

Precautionary measures must be taken before using synthetic cannabinoid products.  Although these herbal blends are legal in many places, an increasing number of states and countries are regulating the products if not banning them entirely.  It is important to be familiar with these regulations and to only use products that are safe.

Afghan Hash Incense Review

23 April by admin 8 Comments

Herbal Incense blends like Afghan Incense (Hemp Flavor) are great and get people hooked.  First off, what other product, compared to Afghan Incense, smells so good and feels like the real deal? You get the best of both worlds with this smoking blend. What sets Afghan Incense apart from other herbal blends is that it not only makes you feel good but it can cause visual distortions like it did for me.  The only other product I can think of that altars your visual experience is Salvia and that may be too strong for some people.

Afghan Herbal Incense is strong enough, it is aromatic and feels like the real thing.  To provide a thorough review of this blend, let’s first look at the ingredients that make up the product.  The herbs used include: Betula Utilis, Lactuca sativa, Myroxylon balsamum, Laurus nobilis, Abies balsamea, Agropyron repens, and Syzygium aromaticum.  The blend also has powerful flavorings, which give off a strong aroma, as well as resins, which are solids.

This smoking blend looks like Hashish and smells like it too.  The herbs are dried up and made into the incense.  It is said that the blend is made according to an ancient recipe from Afghanistan.  After using various other herbal products, it appears that Afghan Incense is at the top of the list of most powerful blends.  To use the blend, you must break open the contents first.  You can then fill a small container with the content and let the natural fragrance take over the room.  Or, you can add the mixture into your favorite tobacco product and smoke it, which is what most people are now doing.

Afghan Herbal Incense provides a tranquilizing experience, leaving you feeling relaxed.  Like mentioned above, some people experience visual distortions and may even get an energy boost.  It all depends on the body, the amount used and the method of consumption.  The effects of Afghan Incense are short but worth the experience.

The Good
The product can be burned as incense or added to tobacco for smoking and the aroma of Afghan incense is unlike any other smoking blend.

The Bad
Afghan Incense is a powerful product and may be too strong for first time users.  In other words, be cautious if it is your first time.

The Verdict
Because Afghan Incense smells incredibly aromatic and wonderful, it is simply worth the experience just for the scent and flavors.  Above all, the outcome and effects are just like the real deal.

Buzz Incense

Buzz Herbal Incense

Editors Review

There are a lot of herbal incense blends out there and choosing the best one simply takes testing.  After trying almost every kind, Buzz has proven to be one of the most satisfying and it is no wonder that Buzz Herbal Incense is hot on the market.

Like most herbal smoking blends, Buzz is made of natural herbs.  You’ll find ingredients like Damiana, Bay Bean, Dwarf Skullkap, Vanilla, Stevia Leaves, Rose Petals, Hope and Licorice.  The end result: a sweet scent and a powerful blend.

For starters, Buzz Herbal Incense can be burned on its own as incense or it can be added to tobacco for smoking.  Smoking buzz creates stronger effects compared to burning it as incense.  At the first puff, you can already get the sense that Buzz is smooth to smoke.  To top it off, Buzz has a wonderful aromatic fragrance that simply adds to the whole experience.

Once the package is opened and the method of consumption is chosen, the effects of Buzz will start to kick in.  The high lasts for quite a long time, anywhere from an hour to three hours.  Buzz Herbal Incense is the ultimate blend for the perfect mind and body high.  You will soon start to feel relaxed, your body calm and your mind clear.  This is the ideal smoking blend to use after a stressful day at work.  Unlike Salvia and even Afghan Herbal Incense, Buzz does not create altered perceptions or cause you to hallucinate.  It really is meant to relax you and de-stress.  You will notice an improvement in your mood and when you feel better, you will have more energy later.

The Good
Buzz is the ultimate blend for a smooth smoke and sweet aroma.  It is not harsh like some other products on the market.

The Bad
Buzz may not be strong for everyone, especially if you are a frequent user.

The Verdict
For a long-lasting experience, sweet fragrance and strong effects, Buzz is the perfect blend.

Pulse Incense

20 April by admin 1 Comment

Pulse Smoking blend

Pulse Herbal Incense is a popular smoking blend indeed, but because of its popularity, it is important to get the right stuff.  Plenty of manufacturers out there market their blends as Pulse when they are actually something else.

Some people like to compare Pulse to Jah Rush, which is another herbal blend.  Pulse is a very sweet and aromatic herbal incense, but every so often you get a package that does not smell completely natural.  With that said, the blend is primarily made of natural ingredients including: Bay Bean, Damiana, Stevia Leaf, Lemon Grass, Tribulus Terrestris, Indian Pennyworth, Rose, Siberian Motherwort, Marsh Mallow, Clove, Hops, and other aromatic essence.

For legal smoking blend enthusiasts, Pulse is a potpurri of a bunch of sweet smelling herbs that work together to provide a wonderful experience for the user.  Once the package is opened, there you will have a handful of crushed herbs that are very dry and quite powder-like in texture.

If you’re lucky, you may get a package that does not contain stems and small twigs.  The product is made for burning as incense, but for smoking, you may have to remove these stems.  All in all, Pulse is great for smoking and burns smoothly.  The great news about Pulse is that it comes in a re-sealable package that actually re-seals and lets you use the rest later.  With the physical traits aside, we can now move on to the actual session.

Similar to Buzz, Pulse is also smooth when smoking.  The amazing part comes when you take your first hit and get lost in the fruity aroma and tantalizing sensation.  The key with enjoying Pulse is to relax yourself even before you start.  Choose a comfortable setting and let your mind remain at ease.  Within the first minute or so, your body will begin to let loose and you will experience a total body high.  For some people, the effects of Pulse are mild, especially when you take smaller hits.  For first timers, it is a good idea to start small because Pulse is a very potent herbal blend.  In other words, it is strong and powerful and you don’t want your heart racing too much, too soon.

Overall, the experience is soothing and relaxing.  It’s important to let go of any paranoia in order to prevent raciness.  Pulse is perfect for having a good and satisfying body high.  While Pulse may be on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to price, you are getting a very strong blend with quality, not to mention wonderful fragrance.

The Good
Pulse gives a soothing and relaxing body high, sweet and fruity aroma and is known to have the longest-lasting effects in the pool of herbal incenses.

The Bad
You may experience raciness if you do not relax before you start.  Some people experience mild headaches.

The Verdict
Pulse is very strong, which means you get a good body high that lasts a long while, making Pulse worth the price.
